Teachers in Wales, what's your marathon?

Help teachers tackling their own challenges by taking one of your own

What's your Marathon? Tell us on Twitter @teachersupport.

For some teachers every lesson can be a marathon, but unlike most runners they won’t be getting a medal or applause when they cross the finish line. Instead they will continue to be bullied, stressed, overworked, in debt or even worse.

If you are taking part in the Welsh marathon or the Cardiff half marathon in 2011 you can help support these teachers.

By making Teacher Support Cymru your nominated charity you could help us to award an emergency grant to a teacher in need, pay for our Support Line to be staffed by a trained advisor or help a retired teacher to remain independently in their home.

In return we will provide you with lots of help and advice on how to make the most of the experience.

We will help you prepare

Along with training plans and nutrition guides, we will send you a press release template to send out to your local papers, posters to help you promote any fundraising events you may want to run, a facebook group where you will be able to chat to us and all the other runners taking part and of course a running vest for the day.

Get started

We also have places reserved in:

  • Virgin London Marathon – 17th April 2011
  • Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon - 6th March 2011
  • Edinburgh Marathon - 22nd May 2011 (However, if a whole marathon seems a step too far, why not join with three of your friends and run the Hairy Haggis Relay? The race runs the same course as the marathon on the same day – but in relay! Each runner runs roughly 5.8 miles.)

Teachers Building Society has joined forces with the national charity for teachers, Teacher Support Network to offer you this unique savings account. Click here to find out more.
