How should schools handle student behaviour?

Teacher Support Network and Parentline Plus are working together on a campaign around behaviour in the classroom

sparing the rod - builing a broad coalition to improve school discipline

Do you think discipline is getting worse in schools? Are lessons more about crowd control than teaching? Do you believe more should be done to improve the way children and young people behave?

Maybe you think behaviour is not an issue. Perhaps you think that discipline has improved and the focus should be elsewhere?

how should we handle pupil behaviour?Whatever you think about discipline in schools, Teacher Support Network, and Parentline Plus want to hear from you. Previous research shows that pupil behaviour is one of the top three causes of stress for teachers, but we want to know how the issue of discipline affects you, before the UK Parliament debates a new Education White Paper in the months to come.

Get involved:

  • Join the debate: Why not tell us what you think in our new forum
  • Be filmed: We want teachers to film themselves answering a few questions on behaviour. The video will then be used at our fringe event on behaviour at the Conservative Party Conference in October as well as on our website and you tube site.
