Teacher Support Network's Meetup Group continues to grow: Join now

13 May 2008

Teacher Support Network has launched a Meetup project to bring teachers together in comfortable environments to discuss life, teaching, learn from one another and coordinate ways to promote better wellbeing for teachers in their own schools. The project currently has a  London group whose first meeting is set for Tuesday 20th May. If you're in the area, go to our meetup.com profile and RSVP for our meeting. There's no cost and much to gain from networking and meeting teachers from other schools.

If you're based elsewhere in the UK, join our Meetup.com group and let us know where you're located. If you're keen on organising your own teachers group, we'll promote your gatherings, offer support, materials and other assistance. These are teacher-led sessions. Times, dates, frequency and subject matter are to be in the hands of those holding the meetings. Teacher Support Network can also assist in coming up with topics to get you're meetings started and running successfully.

Our first meeting is geared toward a relaxed conversation and  workshop on stress. A joint survey of teachers recently conducted by Teacher Support Network and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers shows that stress remains  the leading cause of health problems for teachers, and as a Guardian news article  recently pointed out, "the rash of government education policies over the last five years has undermined attempts to agree a proper work/life balance and led to increasingly stressed teachers."

The meeting is set for 7 pm, 47 Tonbridge St., London. WC1H 9DW (behind Camden Town Hall and about one block from King's Cross/St.Pancras station. A map and directions are available at our meetup.com profile page.
