Tell Us Your Story

We want to be a positive voice for you and your profession. You can help us accomplish that by sharing with us your experience on the job. We will consider true stories of educators who prefer to remain anonymous or want their names attached.

Be a press volunteer: Please contact our Press and Communications Manager  on (+44) 020 7697 2762, or using the form at the bottom of the page.

We are always looking for teachers and lecturers - whether you are trainee, newly qualified, serving or retired - willing to speak about your experiences, or share your opinions - positive or negative - for use in our promotional and media work.

You can be as public or anonymous as you wish; we will manage all aspects of confidentiality if you prefer not to be identified.

We are interested in all issues that affect teachers, but are looking for true life experiences in the following areas in particular:

  • Mental Health Issues: Tell us your experiences of living and working with a mental health issue ahead of Mental Health Awareness Week.  Do you have any advice or tips for teachers in a similar situation?  Share them with us.
  • Social networking and/or cyberbullying: Have you been attacked online?  Have pupils or students written messages about you on social networking sites?  Maybe your own use of social networking sites has got you into trouble at work?  Perhaps you have used these kinds of sites in a positive way to help colleagues and students.  Let us know whatever your experiences are.
  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Teachers: February is LGBT history month and we want to hear about real experiences in the classroom and the staffroom.  Are you unable to come out at work?  Has your sexuality caused problems with students and colleagues?  Maybe you work in a positive environment, where your sexuality is not an issue at all and you can offer advice to other teachers and schools.  Whatever your story we want to hear from you.
  • Academies and Free Schools: is your school changing status?  Have you moved from a school to an academy?  Are you involved in a free school?  When a school changes status or a teacher moves school, it can be an extremely worrying and stressful time.  We are looking for teachers to share their experiences about how they are managing the transition, so that we can help and advise others facing a similar situation.
  • False allegations: Have you been accused of something you didn't do?  Did it affect your teaching career or your home life?  Later this year the government plans to provide anonymity for teachers who have had an allegation made against them and we are looking for people to share how allegations affected them.  If you would like to get involved, complete the form below.

Remember you can be as public or as anonymous as you want to be.  To help us help other teachers in similar situations, simply complete the form below.
