A subject leader has specific responsibility for
the management of a subject across a key stage or the whole school. As a subject leader you will be expected to:

your subject. This will keep you up-to-date in your subject, help you be part
of your subject community, continue your own learning and give you access to
dedicated sources of information. Subject associations are normally membership
organisations, often registered charities, whose mission is to further the
teaching and learning of a specific subject in schools, colleges and
